the beauty of an ebenezer

a simple act of worship

In 1 Samuel 7:12, it says, “Then Samuel got a big stone. He set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer. He said, “The Lord has helped us every step of the way.” (NIRV) 

Samuel set up this stack of stones and named it Ebenezer, which translates to “stone of help” or “stone of remembrance.” He left this pile of stones as a simple reminder for all who saw it that God was the reason they had made it to this point and He would be the only reason they would progress any further. The ebenezer is a physical, visual representation of remembrance. 

As an individual, I recognize that I’ve only made it this far by the grace of God. This company is a visible signpost (or ebenezer) for the blessings in my life; because of how wildly I’ve been blessed, I have been granted a love for the visual arts, a family with a background in photography, a loving support system, and the kind of clientele that make my job so fun. So this company is my ebenezer: a visible remembrance of God’s blessings in my life. This is why I chose the name of the company- to remind myself every time I look at the logo or tell someone what it is I do just how blessed I’ve been.

By God’s grace, I’ve made it this far. And by God’s grace, I’ll carry on.
